Parque Los Lavaderos El Sauzal

Parque Los Lavaderos, old washing park, El Sauzal, gardens, excursion destination

This terraced landscape park can be found in El Sauzal on the cliffs, at an altitude of approx. 140 to 190 meters. In this old “wash park” there was once a large spring with many drains, gutters and catch basins. It therefore became the perfect place for women to wash their clothes and bleach on the meadows.

The large area of almost 8000 m² was gradually restored by the municipality from 1988 onwards and is now a popular place for locals and tourists. It is a special place, full of lush plants, meadows and the water collection tanks and water channels.

The site is steeply laid out in several terraced sections, enchanted and with a fantastic view of the north coast below. A small restaurant has now set up shop on one level with a panoramic terrace. There are three entrances, one at the top of the thoroughfare, which is the highest point, one slightly hidden with a staircase from the middle level and the lowest, where unfortunately you cannot park, so it can only be reached on foot.

If you want to walk through the entire park, you should be able to climb stairs well.

There is a very idyllic staircase leading out of the park (the gate is closed in the evening) up to the cliffs with fantastically beautiful views of the Costa Sauzal. You can also enjoy the most beautiful sunset from this place, with a large palm tree in the foreground and a clear view of the Teide and the north coast.

The freedom I mean
is the willingness in me,
to capture life whenever I want.

Tell me what you see and I'll tell you who you are.

I take the freedom
open my heart and my soul wide,
soak up the beauty of nature.

My store of memories is big,
always available and alive.
Fills me with happiness.

Nobody can take more from me
what I saw and felt with my eyes.

At the end of my life
I will take exactly such pictures
let it unfold in my mind's eye.
